During the COVID-19 pandemic and a deep economic recession, workers all over the world protested on May Day (International Workers’ Day).
Usually, May Day is about asking for better pay and safer working conditions. But this time, it was about even more.
People were asking governments to:
- Protect workers during the pandemic
- Help those who lost jobs or money
- Stand up for democracy and stop unfair treatment by right-wing leaders
Many workers felt like they were being called “heroes,” but not actually treated with respect or fairness. Protesters wanted action—not just praise.
🌍 A Message of Solidarity
Even though the world was in crisis, these protests sent a clear message:
Workers matter. Their rights matter. And they are stronger when they stand together.
The pandemic showed just how important it is to protect workers—not just during hard times, but always.
